SUMMARY:Living Beyond Cancer: Late Effects and Survivorship Care Online Course
DESCRIPTION:“Cure is not enough” – in 1975 Giulio J. D’Angio had the vision of childhood and adolescent cancer survivors and their long-term follow-up care. \nWith around 80 % survival of childhood and adolescent cancer\, around 500\,000 survivors live in Europe today and the number is increasing. SUMMARY:Know the basics: ICCD Campaign 2024 - Kick Off!
DESCRIPTION:In this webinar\, CCI Europe will present to the participants the upcoming 3-years global ICCD Campaign “Equal Access To Care” and will focus on how member organisations can actively contribute to year 1 of the campaign with the motto: “Unveiling Challenges”. \nThe Campaign Toolkit will be presented so that member organisations can share and promote the campaign in their countries. In year 1\, everyone affected by childhood cancer is invited to go to the ICCD-platform and submit a digital postcard with the challenges and inequalities they face in their country related to childhood cancer. The postcard will then show up on an interactive\, virtual world map. The objective for year 1 is to raise awareness about the global challenges and inequalities. \nThe aim of this Gold Webinar is to mobilize CCI Europe member organisations for broad and active participation in the campaign. \n\n\nAbout the Speakers: \n\nAnne Goeres\nAnne is managing director at the Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner\, national foundation for children with cancer in Luxembourg for 15 years and Committee member of CCI Europe. SUMMARY:Webinar: The Social Challenges in Follow-Up Care
DESCRIPTION:Cancer in childhood or adolescence affects not only the patient but the whole family. To make this drastic phase in life as bearable as possible\, multidisciplinary cooperation is a precondition. In addition to optimal medical and psychological care\, social support is also a very important pillar during the treatment period. \nPhysical\, psychological and social problems can occur not only during intensive treatment\, but also years later. The number of late effects increases the longer the oncological disease and treatment occurred. These can vary depending on the type of tumor and treatment. Besides the medical late effects\, a wide range of psychosocial problems can also arise and make everyday life even more difficult for patients and their relatives.  Looking at the social dimension\, it has been documented that AYAs have a significant risk of becoming unemployed in adulthood and having to claim social benefits. Similarly\, Survivors have to fight with an increased risk of living a dependent life\, difficulty establishing/maintaining social relationships\, less likely to be married/partnered and in a worse economic situation compared to peers. Many reasons to give this important topic a stage. \nJoin us for an exciting webinar on “Social challenges in Follow-Up care“. Great speakers from different countries will talk about the most important aspects regarding social challenges\, like „The right to be forgotten“ and „Social isolation“.  A social work expert and a Patient Advocate will tell us what benefits families are entitled to and how this is related to the residence permit. \nTherefore\, the webinar is intended for anyone involved with the topic: survivors\, their families and friends\, health care professionals\, and anyone interested. \nregister here

SUMMARY:European Cancer Summit 2023 - Accelerating Momentum: A manifesto to 2030
DESCRIPTION:This Summit is special\, and it’s reflected in the slogan. \n‘Accelerating Momentum’ highlights our impatience. The EU’s Beating Cancer Plan is the opportunity of a lifetime. We’re already implementing a variety of new projects to better care for cancer patients and survivors.  But\, together\, we need to do much more – and much more quickly. The current EU Parliament comes to an end next year. \n‘A manifesto… ‘ refers to a detailed list of cancer care priorities and proposals compiled by the European Cancer Organisation from input received from its member societies and patient groups. The manifesto will be unveiled at the Summit\, and we need to ensure every candidate standing in next year’s European Parliamentary elections subscribes to this roadmap. \n‘…to 2030’… We cannot afford to wait. Cancer doesn’t. We need to set clear deadlines for tangible progress. \nIf ever there was a time and a place to rally the European cancer community – this is it! \nregister here

SUMMARY:Know the basics: What are the Models of Care in Paediatric Oncology?
DESCRIPTION:The aim of shared care is to cure every child with cancer\, with optimal quality of life. \nThe principle of shared care is close cooperation between a central paediatric oncology expertise centre and local shared care centres\, so that the young patient can avoid long distance travels for standard clinical examinations and treatments. it is important that the shared care centres meet certain quality criteria and connect closely with the central expertise centre\, so that the best possible care for the child is guaranteed. \nIn this Gold Webinar on the 28th August at 5pm CET\, we will present various shared care models in Europe\, critically examine whether they deliver what they promise and whether they can serve as best practice models for other countries. \n  \nregister here

SUMMARY:11th European Conference on Rare Diseases & Orphan Products (ECRD) 2022
DESCRIPTION:. \nThe ECRD is recognised globally as the largest\, patient-led rare disease policy event in which collaborative dialogue\, learning and conversation takes place\, forming the groundwork to shape goal-driven rare disease policies and allow for important and innovative discussions on a national and an international level to take place. \nLeading\, inspiring and engaging all stakeholders to take action\, the Conference is an unrivalled opportunity to network and exchange invaluable knowledge with over 1500 stakeholders in the rare disease community – patient advocates\, policy makers\, researchers\, clinicians\, healthcare professionals\, healthcare industry representatives\, academics\, payers\, regulators and Member State representatives. \n \n \nThe next ECRD will take place fully online from 27 June to 1 July 2022. \n \n \nThis 11th edition follows a pivotal two-year Rare 2030 Foresight Study\, supported by the European Parliament and European Commission\, that guided a large-scale and multi-stakeholder reflection on rare disease policy in Europe through 2030. \nThe concluding recommendation of Rare2030 was the need for a new European policy framework on rare diseases with measurable and actionable goals. Current actions at Member State level alone\, or legislative changes in specific areas are not enough. We need a new European collective strategy for rare diseases to bring Member States’ commitment to rare diseases under a common umbrella and mark a step forward in the post-COVID world. \nThis ECRD will be a critical opportunity for all stakeholders to consider how to transform this exhaustive review of the strategy on rare diseases into a proposal of concrete actions ultimately creating the ecosystem required to address the unmet needs and persisting inequalities across Europe. \n\nWhy participate in ECRD 2022 online? \n\nUsing the virtual event’s platform you can join ECRD from anywhere you wish\, with the\npossibility to re-watch on-demand session at your convenience.\nDirect from your desk – participate in sessions run by industry experts built around three\nthemes in line with the UN Social Development Goals. Over 100 speakers will lead online\,\ninteractive sessions and be available to answer questions.\nSpecial registration fees for patient representatives and healthcare professionals will make it\neasier for all stakeholder groups to take part!\n\n\nFeatures of ECRD 2022 online: \n\nA more flexible conference! You will be able to switch between parallel sessions and access\nrecordings of all sessions until the end of the year.\nAccess to hundreds of multimedia ECRD posters. Use interactive games\, quizzes and badges\nto make connecting from your home or office more fun.\nThe online platform is being built to guarantee online networking opportunities with speakers\nand fellow conference participants\, as well as with posters authors.\n\nPostersDeadline for the poster abstracts submissions for the ECRD 2022 are now extended to 21st April. \n \nVisit https://www.rare-diseases.eu/ for more details and how to register.
