Gold September – Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Event 2025
September 23 @ 17:00 - 19:00
CCI-E and SIOPE, representing childhood cancer patients, parents, survivors and healthcare professionals, will once again mark the Gold September – Childhood Cancer Awareness Month campaign through the annual flagship policy event.
This year’s event, titled “No Child Left Behind: Prioritising Childhood Cancer in the Next EU Budget”, will take place on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, from 17:00-19:00 CEST at the European Parliament (SPAAK 7C50) in Brussels. Co-hosted by MEPs Vlad Voiculescu (Renew, Romania) and Romana Jerković (S&D, Croatia), this flagship event will shine a spotlight on paediatric cancers and the urgent need to prioritise them in the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028-2034, the EU’s long-term budget that sets expenditure priorities for the upcoming seven-year period.
The current MFF (2021 – 2027) has been instrumental in driving progress in care, research, and innovation, through EU4Health and Horizon Europe programmes, and other initiatives like Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the EU Cancer Mission. However, challenges in implementation remain. As we approach a new budget cycle, it’s critical to ensure sustained and increased EU investment to close these gaps and support children living with and beyond cancer.
The event will:
- Reflect on achievements and shortfalls of EU cancer initiatives
- Advocate for targeted funding for childhood cancer in the next MFF
- Bring together policymakers, researchers, advocates, and survivors
Let’s make sure no child is left behind in the EU’s future fight against cancer.
Join us in Brussels to help shape a healthier, more equitable future for all children across Europe.
