CCI Europe meets with EU Commissioner of Health

On January 30th, CCI Europe met with the Commissioner of Health, Stella Kyriakides, in her premises.

CCI Europe’s delegation was composed by Anita Kienesberger, CCI Europe Committee Chair; Carina Schneider, CCI Europe Managing Director; Delphine Heenen, European Affairs Pillar Lead;  Marine Gouders and Teresa Pais, policy officers.

It was a fruitful meeting where CCI Europe had the opportunity to discuss the main challenges faced by our community.

Topic of discussion, among others, were the need for incentives for research and development of innovative drugs for children with cancer, and the call for an inclusive network of comprehensive paediatric cancer infrastructures. CCI Europe brought important policy asks to the attention of the Commissioner.

“We will continue to advocate for a patient-centric policy agenda that addresses the concerns of the paediatric cancer community. This is especially relevant in a year of European elections, as we need to keep pushing for implementation of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan in our countries.”

Carina Schneider

This was also the opportunity to raise awareness around CCI Europe’s & SIOPE’s manifesto for the next European elections.

CCI Europe is committed to continue high level discussions with officials of the Commission, members of the European Parliament and Council attachés, to keep childhood cancer at the forefront of the EU’s policy agenda.
