European Week Against Cancer (EWAC) takes place each year from 25 to 31 May with the aim to raise awareness about cancer control, access to treatment, and support for cancer survivors. Thus, CCI Europe and SIOP Europe have started engaging on this occasion as of 2022 by raising awareness of childhood cancer reality and needs across Europe.

This year, the European childhood cancer community has decided to focus on the long-awaited proposal for the revision of the EU Pharmaceutical legislation that was released on 26 April 2023.

Hence, on the occasion of #EWAC2023, we met with our childhood cancer patient advocates and healthcare professionals to ask for their views on the EU Pharmaceutical legislation and expectations from the upcoming revision process.

Watch the videos below to discover what they had to say, and engage over social media and share your views by using the hashtags #EUPharma4Children #EUPharmaStrategy and #EWAC2023!

N.B. SIOP Europe and CCI Europe have analysed the European Commission’s proposal and have highlighted areas that the childhood cancer community believes should be upheld during the negotiation process as well as those where amendments can further strengthen the reform and ultimately, improve the fate of patients with unmet medical needs, such as young cancer patients.
