The European elections of 2024 took place from June 6th to 9th.
CCI-E and SIOPE created their joint manifesto in order to highlight the childhood cancer community’s priorities and put forward policy asks for this mandate (2024-2029). We hope it will guide the policy action of the newly elected Members of the European Parliament and other policymakers, such as the European Commission and the Council.
Every year in Europe, 35,000 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer, a rare life-threatening disease. All paediatric cancers are rare and require dedicated approaches across the patient journey to increase cure rates, improve quality of care and eradicate inequalities in access to high quality research and care. Over the past five years, the EU introduced crucial initiatives for childhood cancer, such as the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the EU Cancer Mission, let’s keep the momentum!
We invite you to endorse our manifesto: you will be contributing to raise awareness on childhood cancer challenges and to help us ask for the commitment of EU policymakers.
In case of any further questions please contact our policy officers, Teresa Pais (t.pais@ccieurope.eu) and Marine Gouders (m.gouders@ccieurope.eu).
Did you miss the live event at the European Parliament on 13 February where we launched the manifesto? Here you can watch the recording of the meeting!
