The European Childhood Cancer Community calls for bold implementation of the European Care Strategy

On September 7th, 2022, the European Commission presented the European Care Strategy. This ambitious initiative aims at ensuring quality, affordable and accessible care services across Europe and improving the situation of care receivers and the people caring for them, professionally or informally.

These goals are strongly supported by the European childhood cancer community.

In this light, CCI Europe and SIOP Europe formulated six recommendations that the community hopes to see considered in the implementation of the Commission’s Communication on the European Care Strategy to improve the life of young patients with cancer or a life-threatening disease, survivors, and their family.

These recommendations should not be limited to the scope of the European Care Strategy and have potential to be addressed in other European initiatives and legislations that are of great pertinence to childhood community (e.g. Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, Cross Border Healthcare Directive).

For this reason, we invite you to read the document below and share it with your peers.
