International Childhood Cancer Day 2025:

Inspiring Action for Equal Access to Care

for All Children with Cancer

Every year on February 15th, we celebrate International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD). It is a special day to help people learn about childhood cancer and the challenges the childhood cancer community faces. It’s also a time to show support and love for children, teens, survivors and their families around the world. ICCD reminds everyone how important it is to work together to make life better for kids with cancer. CCI and SIOP advocate for a world where children with cancer have their needs understood and met.

The International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) 2025 marks the second phase of our three-year campaign: “Equal Access to Care for All Children with Cancer”. In the ICCD 2024 campaign, we asked our global childhood cancer community to share challenges and unveil inequalities faced by those affected by childhood cancer internationally (find the report here). Launched on February 1st , the 2025 ICCD campaign is a global call to action aimed at driving solutions, showcasing community efforts, and inspiring change for children, teens, and families affected by childhood cancer worldwide.

This year’s theme is “Inspiring Action”, by focusing on solutions—showcasing collaborative efforts, regional initiatives, and community-driven activities from around the world. From reducing inequalities to creating meaningful change, ICCD 2025 highlights the many ways we can work together to ensure every child receives the care they deserve.

“Last year we were looking for the challenges the childhood cancer community across the globe faces. This year we are looking for actions. So, we invite everybody to highlight initiatives in your region that you are particularly proud of, showcase solutions, celebrate collaborative efforts, and commit to breaking down barriers in childhood cancer care worldwide. I warmly invite everyone in our community to join the 2025 campaign and inspire action worldwide”

mentions CCI President, Rodney Wong.

While SIOP President, Dr. Guillermo Luis Chantada emphasises the importance of creating a library of initiatives:

“The ICCD campaign is about more than raising awareness — it’s about taking action and making a real difference for children with cancer and their families. By mapping initiatives that have already created solutions, the ICCD 2025 campaign hopes to inspire patient advocates, parents, organisations, and healthcare professionals to work together and address inequalities in their regions”.
