The CCI Europe European Affairs Pillar Committee has hosted this educational webinar to help the European childhood cancer community in better understanding the EU Paediatric and Orphan Regulations – indeed, this is what children with cancer need to get access to better care!The EU Paediatric and Orphan Regulations are about to be reviewed by the European Parliament. This Education Policy Webinar explained the loopholes of those two regulations that have the potential to improve a timely access to innovative, high-quality and safe medicines for young cancer patients. It also highlighted the proposed measures put forward by the members of the European Pillar to ensure more efficient and kinder treatments for them. The presentation was followed by an interactive Q&A session with the members of the audience.

In the context of the EU’s Pharmaceutical Strategy, the EU Paediatric and Orphan Regulations are about to be reviewed and address shortcomings identified in a recent evaluation of the European Commission.
Together with SIOP Europe, CCI Europe put forward 6 Key Recommendations for Paediatric Cancers which we hope to see addressed in the revision of the EU legislation on orphan and paediatric medicines to improve access to innovation and medicines for children and adolescents with cancer in Europe.
